Luxembourg

Luxembourg is proud to be the first country in the world to offer nationwide free public transport for everyone.
Your travels have never been easier: just hop onto a bus, train or tram and you’re good to go!
Since 01/03/2020, you no longer need a ticket to travel on the tram and national buses and trains (except first class).
There is control on public transport, even if the ride is free. What can they ask you for? Your ID card. Your personal document is your "travel document" in this case.

As free public transport ends at the border, cross-border tickets and passes have been reassessed. Free public transport ends at the border, so you must get a cross-border pass or ticket if you plan to travel outside of the territory of Luxembourg.

The mKaart is a multifunctional card on which you can load various products, such as transport tickets and access to mBox bicycle parks. Recently, the mKaart can contain the Chargy service, access to public charging stations for electric cars. Your card is given to you when you purchase a product at the Mobilitéitszentral or at an approved AVL, CFL or TICE counter. If you sign a contract with an electric energy charging service provider in Luxembourg, they will give you an mKaart for access to the Chargy stations. The mKaart is valid on the entire Luxembourg public transport network.
