PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Train

Company Elron operates commuter rail services in Estonia.
Elron commuter trains are officially regional trains. They serve Greater Tallinn in Harju County and pass through the Kristiine, Nõmme and Lasnamäe districts of the city. Rail transport is free for registered city residents within the city boundaries (zone 1).

A first class ticket comes with a numbered and guaranteed seat.  Seats in standard class are not numbered and a standard class ticket does not guarantee a seat.

With a day or season ticket you get unlimited travel in the zone(s) or between the stations indicated on your ticket. Season tickets are usually better value for money and save time.

If you want to buy a ticket, you will need an Elron travel card to which the ticket will be loaded. The card gives a 5% discount on all tickets purchased from a ticket machine. Elton  card costs 2.50 EUR and you can buy it at the ticket office at the main railway station in Tallinn (Balti jaam) and at the Tartu railway station or from the on-board staff on Elron trains.

You get the best deals online, with 15% off single tickets and 10% off season tickets, compared to buying them from on-board staff or from ticket offices. Single tickets bought with the Elron Farecard from the ticket machine on train get a 10% discount. Read more about other concessions here.

On-board staff and ticketmachine accept payments with VISA / VISA Electron, MasterCard / Maestro and American Express.

On-board staff accepts cash payments.

Free Wi-Fi is available on all our trains. First class has a separate, faster Wi-Fi.

You must carry an ID confirming your eligibility for these discounts:
