Belgium

Public Transport

To use public transport in Belgium, you will need a MOBIB smart card. Both the personal and basic MOBIB cards cost 6 EUR. The difference between the two is that your personal MOBIB card has your name on it and can hold a variety of tickets and passes. The basic MOBIB card is anonymous and only allows you to buy tickets.

Both the personal MOBIB cards and the basic MOBIB cards eliminate the need for paper tickets.

They can be used for travel on all Belgian public transport networks, namely: SNCB-NMBS, TEC and De Lijn in the Brupass and Brupass XL zones. Up to 8 different transport tickets can be loaded onto one MOBIB card at the same time.

The personalized MoBIB card is issued by any transport network in Belgium, namely: SNCB-NMBS, STIB-MIVB, TEC or De Lijn.

All the benefits and bonuses offered by these networks can technically be available to you with this card. The choice is yours, which one you buy and load the MOBIB card subscription with.

The Flemish transport company De Lijn operates trams and buses in Franders.

In Brussels and its surroundings, public transport is provided by MIVB-STIB. In the Walloon Region, public transport is provided by TEC

The SNCB railway company takes you on trips throughout Belgium and abroad.

You can travel by tram in the cities of Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent and Charleroi. You can travel along the entire coast by taking the coast tram.
